Reminiscent of It's a Wonderful Life (1946), Part II is a fine sequel to the time travel classic (1985.) The plot sees Marty (a terrific Michael. J. Fox) and Doc Brown (a great Christopher Lloyd) travelling to the then future (2015) to fix an issue with Marty's kids. Old Biff (a superb Thomas F. Wilson) gets his hands on a valuable sporting almanac and travels back to 1955, giving it to his younger self. What follows is a nightmarish version of Hill Valley (much like Pottersville) in which powerful Biff is in control.
The script is convoluted (by its very nature), flitting about in time & an alt. reality, but it's also extremely clever, see: the thrilling Hoverboard sequence and our heroes trying to avoid running into their past selves in 1955. This leads to several jaw dropping encounters.
Elisabeth Shue replaces Claudia Wells as Jennifer Parker & Jeffrey Weissman replaces Crispin Glover as George McFly (much to the actors chagrin, who filed a lawsuit for using his likeness.)
Fox also plays his future (male & female) children. It's not as good as the original (that would be a hard ask) but it is intelligent, intriguing, blockbuster entertainment (with some SFX that is sadly starting to show its age.)
