Minority Report (2002)

In the future there is a pre-crime police program that aims to catch criminals before they commit murder. Three clairvoyant humans ("precogs") led by Samantha Morton, have psychic visions of impending homicides, and officers analyse them to apprehend the perpetrator before the crime can occur.

Chief John Anderton, the commanding officer of Precrime (Cruise) works alongside Lamar Burgess, the Director of Precrime (Max von Sydow) and Danny Witwer (Colin Farrell) an agent from the Department of Justice.

When the precogs see a future crime committed by John, John must go on the run (and boy does he run, this being Tom Cruise!) and try to prove his innocence.

The futuristic technology as depicted here is clever with fun, seemingly gravity defying cars stealing the show. The central concept is interesting if also implausible and a little silly.

The movie is sufficiently action packed and thought provoking, but it's also a bit long for the story it has to tell. The revelation doesn't land as effectively as it should (although it does make sense) but Minority Report is entertaining anyway, thanks to Cruise who's star power is on full display.
